Cambridge, Idaho is a small, friendly community of about 360 people. Primarily agricultural, the area grows alfalfa, wheat, corn, sugar beets and barley, among the varied crops. There are many small and large ranches raising cattle, lambs, pigs, horses and mules.

Recreational opportunities abound in the Cambridge area. Highway 95 north follows the Weiser River to Council and beyond to McCall. Brundage Ski Area, near McCall, is approximately an hours drive from Cambridge and offers wonderful winter sports from skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing to hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails. Summertime recreation includes a variety of hiking trails, camping areas, high mountain lakes for trout fishing, not to mention beautiful Payette Lake for boating, water skiing and other water sports.

Highway 71, going west from Cambridge, will take you to the Hells Canyon Recreation Area with many beautiful campgrounds (run by Idaho Power) along three (3) lakes. Brownlee Lake is well known for its great bass and crappie fishing and its tranquil water for water skiing. Oxbow Lake is just below with many miles of lakefront recreational opportunities. The third lake is Hells Canyon Lake. The Snake River below Hells Canyon Dam is well known for its salmon and steelhead fishing.

Cambridge is approximately 2650 feet in elevation and is surrounded by several mountains including Cuddy Mountain, Hitt Mountain and the West Mountains. It is located about 100 miles north of Boise and about 60 miles northeast of Ontario, Oregon. Winter snowfall can vary greatly from year to year with only a few inches one year and two to three feet the next. The first snow is normally between Thanksgiving and Christmas and will stay on the ground until the end of February to Mid-March. Wintertime temperatures generally range in the teens or twenties, occasionally falling below 0. Summertime temperatures average in the mid eighties to low nineties with the occasional above 100 degree day. Autumn in the Cambridge area is truly spectacular with the fall colors, cool nights and warms days.

Cambridge offers its residents a small town, relaxed lifestyle yet is centrally located. It is a great place to raise a family, enjoy retirement, build a cabin or just come home to a quieter, more peaceful surrounding.
